Getting Started
- Create a free account to list books or contact sellers in your area.
- Set your location so you can discover books and buyers near you.
- Browse categories or search by title, author, or ISBN.
Buying Books
- Open a book listing and use the chat option to message the seller.
- Agree on price, condition, and a safe public meeting place.
- Inspect the book before you pay. Nearby Books does not process payments between users.
Selling Books
- Go to Sell Book and add clear photos, price, and condition details.
- Keep your listing active and reply promptly to buyer messages.
- Mark a book as sold once the exchange is complete.
Account & Profile
- Update your name, phone, address, and profile photo from Profile Settings.
- Use My Books Dashboard to edit, renew, or remove your listings.
- If you forget your password, contact support for assistance.
Delete Your Nearby Books Account
This page explains how to delete your Nearby Books account and associated personal data. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
How to delete your account in the app
- Open the Nearby Books app and sign in.
- Go to Account → Profile Settings (or account settings).
- Choose Delete account.
- Confirm with your password or the verification code sent to you.
- Confirm deletion. Your account will be removed from Nearby Books.
How to delete your account on the website
- Sign in at nearbybooks.net.
- Open Profile Settings.
- Choose Delete account, complete verification, and confirm.
Request deletion by email
If you cannot access your account, email info@nearbybooks.net from your registered email address. Include your full name and ask us to delete your Nearby Books account and associated personal data. We aim to process requests within 30 days.
Data that is deleted
- Your profile (name, email, phone/WhatsApp, address, profile photo, and related account details)
- Your book listings and listing photos
- Your in-app messages/chats linked to the account
- Favourites, follows, reviews, and similar account activity where stored with your account
Data that may be kept
- A limited deletion record (such as email and phone identifiers) so the same credentials cannot be reused to reopen a deleted account, for security and abuse prevention
- Information we must keep for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or dispute reasons
- Aggregated or anonymized data that no longer identifies you
Retention
After you delete your account, personal data linked to your account is removed from active use. Any identifiers kept only for abuse prevention or legal compliance are retained only as long as needed for those purposes (and as described in our Privacy Policy, typically up to 12 months where applicable), unless a longer period is required by law.
Messages & Safety
- Use in-app chat to communicate with buyers and sellers.
- Never share passwords, OTPs, or banking PINs in chat.
- Read our Safety Guidelines before meeting in person.
Report a Problem
To report a suspicious listing, abusive messages, or a technical issue, email info@nearbybooks.net with:
- Your registered name and email
- Book title or user involved (if applicable)
- A short description of the issue
- Screenshots if available
